The UK Supply Chain Director is a member of the UK executive committee, reporting to VP Group Supply Chain (Western Europe) with a dotted line report into the UK CEO. He/she will be responsible for supply chain up to and including Primary Distribution. The UK business operates two breweries based in Northampton / Leeds and has two primary distribution centers. The Supply Chain Director has responsibility for the operation and management of the plants, planning and development. In total he/she will be responsible for circa 430 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the production and primary distribution operation in the UK
  • Help promote and drive the new supply chain organization within the Carlsberg Group, building one common language' for production
  • Provide strategic direction to the management of the UK breweries and associated functions by developing the asset base in the most efficient way
  • Be the guardian of product quality in the whole operation
  • Meet/exceed internal and external customers' service level expectations
  • Work in partnership with the sales and marketing functions in order to provide maximum value and support the growth agenda
  • Manage the balance of achieving a flexible yet cost efficient supply chain, thereby allowing the business a maximum point of market differentiation
  • Drive continuous improvement in unit cost, quality and service and develop the people agenda to support this activity
  • Manage key external relationships with industry associations and supply chain/research organizations

Qualifications

Experience

  • Extensive senior level experience of managing a complex supply chain with cross functional exposure
  • A strong understanding of the dynamics governing the UK retail/leisure markets would be a distinct advantage
  • Exposure to managing a unionised workforce would be of considerable benefit
  • University graduate, with a scientific degree and preferably a brewer.
