The Ordnet.dk project combines the Society’s 28-volume Dictionary of the Danish Language (Ordbog over det danske Sprog, ODS), which covers the language from 1700 to 1950, and the six-volume Danish Dictionary (Den Danske Ordbog, DDO) extending from 1950 to the present day. It also includes a comprehensive body of texts (or corpus) documenting how the language is used.

A new dictionary format
As both dictionaries were conceptually designed for print, a substantial part of the project has involved finding new ways to organise, search and present dictionary information electronically.

First versions of the ODS and the text corpus are already on-line at ods.ordnet.dk and www.korpus2000.dk. A preliminary web-version of the DDO will follow in autumn 2007.
