The Carlsberg Foundation
The Carlsberg Foundation was set up in 1876 by the founder of Carlsberg, brewer and Captain JC Jacobsen. The majority of the shares in Carlsberg A/S are held by the foundation. It consists of and supports financially the Departments A-D below and The New Carlsberg Foundation in accordance with the rules stated in the Charter and its Statutes.

The New Carlsberg Foundation
JC Jacobsen's son Carl Jacobsen set up the New Carlsberg Foundation in 1902 to support the New Carlsberg Glyptotek and promote the study of art and art history in Denmark.

The Tuborg Foundation
The Tuborg Foundation was established in 1931 to mark the 40th Anniversary of The United Breweries Co Ltd - the company formed by the merger of 12 Copenhagen breweries in 1891.  It supports initiatives and activities to benefit all areas of Danish society, especially trade and industry.

The Carlsberg Bequest to the memory of Brewer JC Jacobsen
The Carlsberg Foundation set up 'The Carlsberg Bequest to the memory JC Jacobsen' as a tribute to the founder JC Jacobsen in 1938.  It aims to support practical, socially beneficial activities, particularly in connection with science.
