The Carlsberg Bequest exists to support practical, socially beneficial activities – and over the last 70 years that’s encompassed a vast and various selection of projects, organisations and individuals.

Grants have included a specially adapted wheelchair for a disabled rugby player, a tent for a scout group and two dummies for use in a first aid course. The Bequest helped the Kurdish Cultural Centre buy a pool table and the Furesø yachting club buy a new boat.  And children camping at the Leire Experimental Centre now wear Viking clothes – funded by The Bequest.

Carlsberg’s Grant for Bright Ideas
Individuals working in culture and leisure also benefit. Every second year, The Carlsberg Bequest allocates  DKK1,000,000 to the Carlsberg’s Idélegat.  The Grant for Bright Ideas provides a helping hand to creative and innovative young people within Danish culture and leisure.

A special DKK 100,000 award is also given to the four remarkable talents or “Discoveries of the Year”.  Previous recipients have included authors, film directors and rock bands.
