The French may be better known as wine lovers, but they are also connoisseurs of good beer. In fact, their love of beer is so great that they import more malt (a vital brewing ingredient) than any other country.

Carlsberg arrived in France shortly after 1945 and is now distributed by Brasseries Kronenbourg. Both Carlsberg Beer and Carlsberg Elephant Beer are available in France, with the rich taste of strong, draught Elephant Beer proving particularly popular in French bars and restaurants.

In 2008 Brasseries Kronenbourg became part of the Carlsberg Group, and is today owned 100% by Carlsberg.
