In the Philippines, beer is inexpensive and widely available, even in local general stores. There are a wide range of cheap local beers, and even imported beers seem ridiculously cheap by most standards. So it’s not surprising that the Philippines have one of the highest rates of beer consumption in Asia.
Carlsberg was introduced in the Philippines in the late 1980s through a licence agreement with Asia Brewery Inc. In 2006, Asia Brewery began importing Carlsberg Chill, which has a lower bitterness and better matches the local taste preferences. The local brewing of Carlsberg Beer has now ceased in favour of Chill.
