Many of the statues in HC Ørsted's Park were donated by Carlsberg through the Albertina grant. This grant was set up by Carl Jacobsen to purchase artworks for the public squares and parks of Copenhagen. Carl believed that making Copenhagen more beautiful would increase the citizens' love for their home city.
Amongst others, the Albertina grant funded The Dying Gaul, Silen with Bacchus child, Satyr with Bacchus Child, the Sharpener, Resting Hermes, the Lizard Killer, Resting Satyr, Chapu: Jeanne D’Arc in Domrémy, Flute-playing Satyr boy, The Wrestlers and the Wine-sucking Satyr boy.
