Carlsberg China

Carlsberg Group in China

Carlsberg’s story in China could date back to 1876, when we exported beer to China for the first time. In 1995, we set up the first brewery in mainland China in Huizhou, which is still one of the most important production bases of Carlsberg China.

In 2002, embracing China’s Develop-the-West Strategy, Carlsberg began its large-scale and continuous investment in China, starting from the western regions. Building on our strongholds markets, Carlsberg China has gradually developed into the fourth largest beer company in China, with 26 breweries in 9 provinces, and a nation-wide sales network.

CBC (Chongqing Brewery Company), the listed company, is Carlsberg's operation platform in China. In 2021, our growth rate of sales volume is three times higher that of China beer industry as a whole.

Today, Carlsberg China boasts a strong "6+6" brand portfolio, namely 6 international premium brands such as Carlsberg, Tuborg, 1664, Grimbergen, Brooklyn and Somersby, as well as 6 local powerful brands including Wusu, Chongqing, Xixia, Dali, Wind Flower Snow Moon and Jing A.

As China has its ambition and actions to tackle climate change, Carlsberg also has its own ambitious Together Towards Zero implemented in China. After 6 years of efforts, we have reduced carbon emission by over 75%, with water consumption down by nearly 36%. All Carlsberg breweries in China have been using 100% renewable energy since 2020. We are committed to making more contribution to China’s "3060" goal.
