The "Porter" was originally the kind of beer English porters drank 200 years ago, to keep themselves warm during their hard, physical work at the railway stations and harbours. It was a mixture of the sweet English ale and the strong Irish stout.

Carls Porter maintains the principles and qualities of the original porter, with a sweet, spicy flavour and a characteristic, coal black colour.  The porter has been brewed by Carlsberg since 1895 and poured for as long as people have enjoyed spoiling themselves.
