Pripps’ Christmas beer is brewed according to ancient Swedish tradition, with roasted malt to give it a full-bodied, slightly sweet taste and rich colour. Its classic aroma makes Pripps Julöl the ideal accompaniment to all Christmas dishes, and it is always highly rated in the newspapers’ annual tests of Christmas beers.
The tradition of drinking strong, dark, sweet beer at Christmas dates back to the Viking Age. The first Pripps Christmas beer was brewed in 1894, but we’ve produced many different types of Christmas beer over the years - all of them highly appreciated. We began to brew the extra strong Christmas beer in 1996. You can keep strong and extra strong Christmas beer until the following year - if there’s any left - as the beer matures and develops during storage.
The label on today’s beer still reflects its 19th Century roots. The blue hues and beautiful winter scene evoke the spirit of Yuletide in a simple yet refined style.
