Within this partnership, Carlsberg Group is committed to combat climate change and ozone layer depletion by substituting point-of-sale coolers that contain harmful fluorinated refrigerant gases, such as CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs, with ones that contain natural refrigerants.
The Refrigerants,Naturally! initiative is recognized as a "Partnership for Sustainable Development" by the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.
We joined Refrigerants, Naturally! in late 2006 and today, more than 4000 HFC-free coolers have been introduced in Denmark and Sweden.
In 2010 we will continue phasing-in HFC-free coolers and we have redefined our strategy, ensuring that all newly purchased coolers have the more climate-friendly HC coolant and are equipped with an energy-saving management system in all markets where supply and the required technical support are available. This ensures that we reduce the environmental impact form the coolant and that the energy efficiency of the coolers will be improved.
Carlsberg Group will furthermore continue the cooperation with suppliers in the development of more efficient HFC-free point of sales equipment.
