At Carlsberg, we are always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the natural environment and we have prioritised the environment as one of our key CSR focus areas

Our Environmental policy sets out the standards to which we operate and acts as a framework for our environmental management. We are currently revising our policy to match our increased focus on the environment. The policy applies to all majority-owned Carlsberg companies. The policy guides the Group to optimise the use of natural resources, to view our products and activities from a life-cycle perspective, and to develop and use environment-friendly technologies in a manner that contributes to long-term sustainable development.

The policy will be used on a day-to-day basis to improve our environmental performance by developing local activities that reduce the impact of our operations. These range from using electric cars in Switzerland to using biofuels to reduce energy consumption at our Baltika Brewery in Russia.

Our aim is for our majority-owned subsidiaries to develop their own annual plans for maintaining and constantly improving the environmental impact of their operations. This work is supported by training and awareness programmes for employees so that they understand and consider the environmental impact of their actions. Carlsberg is also committed to all Group breweries being ISO 14001 certified.
