Everyone who works for Carlsberg deserves safe working condition. It is also a key factor in smooth and efficient operations. Both make it a key CSR issue for Carlsberg. To raise awareness and educate employees, 4870 employees participated in a shared safety day at 14 Carlsberg China breweries
How do you identify risk? How do you report on safety issues, and how do you record accidents that happened, as well as those that almost happened, but did not?
In a safe workplace, employees know and live the answers to these questions. The safety meeting in China consisted of both education through presentations and films, relevant training as well as a thorough safety inspection (revealing 1,882 vulnerable points) and hands-on exercises, such as a fire drill and a first-aid drill.
Hami brewery is the safest brewery
At the end of the day, a simple ceremony was held to recognize employees and production sites that had done an outstanding job in ensuring safety. Hami Brewery in the Xinjiang provins was selected as 'the Safest Brewery' out of all of the Carlsberg China breweries.
Carlsberg China intends to keep the good momentum going and the planning of Safety Day 2012 is already on the agenda.
Safe breweries
Breweries are generally considered fairly safe workplaces. Nevertheless, risks are present – as the 1,882 vulnerable points show - and we continuously focus on improving working practices and raising health and safety standards for employees and contractors alike.
