Communicating environmental actions with cartoons
How do you communicate to the local community the positive environmental actions you take and ensure your message is well received and understood? Sometimes the use of plain facts and figures is not enough.
Sinebrychoff has drawn on an unusual method: the use of cartoons.
Communicating complex environmental issues is not always easy. A brewery that addresses these matters regularly needs to find a clear and friendly method to pass important information on. The local community needs to well informed, and so do customers, stakeholders and consumers. To this end, we conceived a communication platform using cartoon images to simplify many of the environmental initiatives we adopt during the normal course of beer production.
Sketching out the issues
The project was conceived and ready to be published in less than six months. Once the messages were created by our communication teams a cartoon company called was contracted to produce the images and a creative consultancy then created large posters out of their ideas. The campaign was cheap to produce, costing less than 2500 Euros and about ten hours work from the communications department.
Launching the message
There are now several steps to the campaign and the first is already underway. The cartoons have been published in our customer magazine, Niki , and have received positive feedback. Furthermore, large posters versions of the cartoons were produced for the walls of our brewery as onsite messages.

Communicating effectively
Wherever Carlsberg Group works, the need to communicate with the local community is a priority. This is even more important when we implement initiatives that can help the environment we operate in. On this occasion, a simple way was the best way.
