Carlsberg Srbija started with scholarships/grants project in 2006, and in 2008 Carlsberg Bulgaria and Carlsberg Croatia joined with similar concepts.
Carlsberg Croatia: Better environment and life program
Carlsberg Croatia has invested €17,000 for young researchers working on environmental protection projects as part of our Better Environment and Life program that we started in Serbia and Bulgaria in 2008.
The Carlsberg Croatia Green Scholarship selects projects from different environmental areas and makes funds available for young researchers and the scientific institutions related to the projects. In this case, the following were chosen:
- Research on gene characteristics of the Euro-Asian lynx in Croatia
- The manufacture of polylactic composite from olive seed filling
- A study on the population and fauna systems of Caribidae in barley fields in Posavina
- An investigation into bioregionalism as an environment protection model in Croatia
The Green Scholarship initiative is backed by Croatian Environment Agency and the Ministry of Science as well as by regional NGOs.
Carlsberg Srbija: promoting the exchange of knowledge
In August 2006, Carlsberg Srbija started a scholarship program for students carrying out research programs on protecting the environment in Serbia. Over 50 projects were reviewed and the winners were honoured at a gala event.
The project was a collaboration between the Serbian Ministry for Environment Protection, the Danish Embassy in Serbia, Carlsberg and the Minicipality of Rakovica in Belgrade.
Its success has led to the program being continued into 2009 and 2010, with a new program of scholarships being introduced for future research. With the aim of encouraging students, scientist and other groups involved in protecting the environment, the initiative is based on cooperation and the exchange of knowledge.
