Carlsberg Malawi re-launches the campaign “Bring Back a Glass” to help Carlsberg have enough bottles for packaging and hereby addresses a shortage of soft and alcoholic drinks in Malawi.

The shortage of drinks on the Malawi market has so far resulted in traders taking advantage of the situation and overpricing drinks by doubling the recommended retail price. Other issues include a shortage of foreign exchange, which also affects sourcing of raw materials and beer production.

However, the shortage of drinks could also partly be attributed to the shortage of glass bottles, which is why Carlsberg Malawi is now collecting glass to ensure the supply of bottles for drinks and to bring down the retail price of soft and alcoholic drinks in Malawi.

So in order to address the part of the issue under Carlsberg Malawi's control, Carlsberg re-launches the 'Bring Back a Glass' campaign as one of several strategies to get back as many glass bottles as possible. The idea is to flood the market with drinks, force the prices of drinks down, and thereby curb the over-pricing.
