The family test

Most parents want to set the right standards for their teenagers drinking behaviour, but don’t know enough about the topic or how to start a constructive dialogue. Klarsnak.com is a website that informs parents about moderate alcohol consumption and helps them to define appropriate rules for their teenagers on the subject. The website provides a web based dialogue tool for parents and teenagers; The Family Test (Familietesten). It gives a framework for parents and provides arguments for moderate responsible drinking behaviour, including setting the right standards.

Near pears

Research has shown that many teenagers don’t know where the line is drawn by their parents when it comes to alcohol and parties, and many parents don’t know how and where to set it. Thus parents don’t know enough about social behaviour among teenagers and simply don’t understand or are unaware of what’s going on at parties. The website provides this information and will set standards for responsible alcohol consumption, and - very importantly - facilitate a dialogue between teenagers and parents. The role of parents in promoting responsible drinking among teenagers cannot be understated - Research has also shown that teenagers look at their parents as the most important “near pears”.

A number of public organisations are using information’s from the web site and are linking to it. Around 6000 people have visited the website, and about 4000 have used the dialogue toll. 16.000 pamphlets are distributed.

The approach on the website fits very well with Carlsberg's Clear on Beer approach to be open about  the effects of alcohol. Carlsberg and other members of The Danish Brewers Association promote responsible drinking practices and are committed to ensure that our products are consumed in an enjoyable and responsible way
