In the summer of 2009 Carlsberg Croatia donated two rickshaws to the city of Koprivnica and its citizens. The objective was to increase awareness about environment and sustainable transportation while offering the community an innovative yet convenient mean of transportation.
The project was initiated because it demonstrates our commitments to our main CSR focus areas (environment & responsible consumption) while at the same time reflects our ambition to be engaged with society. We recognised it as an opportunity to combine our most important focus areas in one initiative sending a clear message.
Translating commtiments into activities
This initiative is called Pan green taxi and, in line with its name, the rickshaws are used like normal taxis ( They can be ordered by phone or stopped on the street) thereby encouraging people to leave their cars at home. During the first month the rickshaws were free of charge for all users but going forward, all money earned goes to students who are driving them to help them finance their education. Citizens of Koprivnica can use the Pan green taxi services from July till October.
The Pan green taxis are also used at our bigger events to take people home safely after they have had a few drinks..
The project was initiated because it demonstrates our commitments to our main CSR focus areas (environment & responsible consumption) while at the same time reflects our ambition to be engaged with society.
At the launch event, Koprivnica's Mayor and Carlsberg Croatia Production Director presented Pan Green taxi to media representatives.
At the moment Carlsberg Croatia is considering the possibility of introducing taxis to other cities in the country.
Carlsberg Croatia has always looked for ways to translate commitments into concrete activities and will continue to do so.
