SHE day at our Leeds Brewery
We call it SHE training. We shut down our site for over eight hours, release our employees from production duties and give them onsite training on different aspect relating to health, safety and the environment.

The advantages of SHE training
SHE days create an opportunity for employees to be engaged in training in a different way. Our philosophy is that learning about health, safety and the environment is not about routine information given to you at work. It is much more than this. It should become a way of life.
For our employees it creates a unique opportunity to learn safer and healthier practices both at work and at home. The training sessions are short and interactive. This makes them clear, comprehensive and well communicated.

Improving performance
For Carlsberg UK it gives us the opportunity to improve SHE performance and get valuable feedback from our employees. To get maximum attendance production is halted for 72 hours. Planning for the day consists of small teams and the training is coordinated by local management and local suppliers. In doing this we are able to deliver over 500 hours of training in one single day dedicated to health, safety and the environment at a cost of less than £35 per employee.

A clear result
Since the introduction of SHE training in 2007, accident levels have fallen substantially and reports of potential accidents, which allows us to put safety features in place, have more than doubled. Last year, we ran two SHE days and in 2009 we held one in March.
Carlsberg UK implements a rigorous health and safety program in all its workplaces. Think green and stay safe.
