At the beginning of 2009, specialists at Baltika Breweries, Part of the Carlsberg Group, initiated an energy saving scheme designed to reduce heat energy costs and the impact water vapor released into the atmosphere can have on the environment.
Using only equipment available at the brewery, our engineers have been able to make use of vapor generated during the secondary stages of the brewing process. Instead of releasing this vapor into the atmosphere, as normally happens during production, the vapor is now stored in a specially designed reservoir. It can then be reused to heat water entering the production process.
SAVING ENERGY
Savings on energy using this method will amount to an estimated RUR 176,507 for the period July to December of 2009. The benefits to the environment are even more substantial.
As part of our global strategy towards a cleaner and safer environment, Carlsberg Group is constantly working to find new and beneficial ways to improve our production processes.
