Our Environmental Policy sets out the standards to which we operate and acts as a framework for our environmental management. The standards and requirements of the policy apply to all majority-owned Carlsberg companies.
The policy guides the Group to optimise the use of natural resources, to view our products and activities from a life-cycle perspective, and to develop and use environment-friendly technologies in a manner that contributes to long-term sustainable development.
The eight topics that are covered by the environmental policy are those most relevant to our day-to-day business
- System and documentation
- Energy and emissions
- Water
- Waste water
- New investments and Purchases
- Packaging
- Waste
- Stakeholders
ISO 14001
It is our ambition that all Carlsberg production sites are certified according to ISO 14001 standards, and that they develop their own annual plans for maintaining and constantly improving the environmental performance of their operations. When Carlsberg acquires new sites, they must make a plan for achieving environmental certification 2-3 years after the take over.
Today, 44 out of the 74 reporting majority owned sites are certified and by 2012 we expect the remaining sites to have obtained the certification.
