The health and safety of all employees and contractors working at our sites is paramount for the Carlsberg Group. We are a responsible employer and we continuously focus on improving working practices and raising health and safety standards. Although breweries are generally considered relatively safe workplaces, there are still aspects that present dangers such as the risk of broken glass and the use of chemicals. There are also specific Health & Safety risks in other parts of our value chain, particularly in the area of logistics.

Organisation and Behaviour

We recognise that safe operations depend not only on technically sound plants and procedures, but also on our people and their behaviour. We are developing a strong and consistent organisational system across the Group to oversee the implementation of our Health & Safety requirements and to continuously identify areas where we can improve.

One of our company's winning behaviours, which guide the way we work, is that ‘we are stronger together’. We promote the idea that every one of our employees has a part to play in helping us achieve our Health & Safety goals. We also develop tools to enable us to actively share best practices.

Health & Safety Policy

Our Health & Safety Policy creates the framework which defines our overall approach to safety. The aim of the Policy is to ensure that all employees and contractors at every Carlsberg site enjoy the same standards, irrespective of where they work. By implementing these Health & Safety standards, we aim to control any potential risks to the safety of our employees and contractors.

Reporting and Systems

We are constantly working to improve our systems and reporting practices. Using the Plan-Do-Check principle, our sites implement improvement plans based on a set of requirements and focus areas, such as wearing the correct protective equipment and the necessary follow up on near-miss incidents.

Through the reporting of incidents and accidents, we identify areas of our day-to-day work where safety improvements are needed. In the  event of a severe incident, an immediate investigation is carried out and the circumstances of the incident are shared across our Health & Safety network to help our sites identify any improvements required in their procedures.
