• Drink in moderation

Beer should be enjoyed only by adults and should not exceed the daily recommended units of up to three 250ml glasses of beer a day for men and up to two 250ml glasses of beer a day for women. These amounts vary according to weight and other physical factors.

  • Underage drinking

The consumption of alcohol by minors is an issue in some societies.

At Carlsberg we support effective targeted measures and initiatives that minimize the dangers of drinking by minors as well as encouraging the enforcement of local legislation regarding the sale of alcohol to minors and its consumption.

Many of the Brewery Associations we belong to have regular programs to combat the purchase and consumption of beer by anyone under the legal drinking or purchasing age in the local market.

  • Drinking and Driving

If you drink- don’t drive. Our policy is to encourage active enforcement of drink driving laws. We recognize we can play an important role in helping to reduce this risk, especially at events that we sponsor in music and sports. In these cases we actively fund initiatives and campaigns such as Designated Driver programs and share a taxi initiatives.

  • Drinking and pregnancy

Our recommendation, based on the available scientific evidence, is that pregnant women should avoid consuming alcohol.

  • Responsible marketing

All Carlsberg marketing activities, advertising and sponsorship programs are conducted under our own Responsible Marketing and Communications Policy.

This policy prescribes that marketing activities are strictly targeted at adults and that our beer and alcoholic beverage brands are presented as offering refreshment and social enjoyment, reflecting our policy of enjoyment in moderation.

All our marketing employees receive training on how to incorporate the policy in their day-to-day work (Please see Responsible Marketing Policy).
