The Russian Baltika Brewery and Carlsberg Breweries A/S have signed a mutually beneficial agreement which gives Baltika license to brew "Carlsberg" beer at Baltika-Don Brewery in Rostov-on-Don. This summer "Carlsberg" will thus be launched in Russia in 30 litres kegs and 0.5 litre glass bottles.
"Carlsberg" will be the international premium beer brand produced by Baltika Brewery. Production of the local premium brand "Parnassus" started in 2001.
"Carlsberg" is one of the worlds leading brands. The licensed beer segment in Russia is now developing and is estimated to take up 2 per cent of the total Russian beer market in 2002.
Last year, Baltika's sales volume reached 14 million hl. Its market share of the domestic beer market is 22.5 per cent.
