Erik Juul Rasmussen has been appointed to the vacant post of Corporate Technical Director and Vice-President for Carlsberg Breweries with effect from August 1.

Erik Juul Rasmussen, 53, has been managing director with responsibility for technical issues at Hannen, Carlsberg Breweries' 100%-owned subsidiary in Mönchengladbach, Germany, since 1989. Prior to that he was technical manager at Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia.

He joined Tuborg in Copenhagen as a trainee brewmaster in 1971 and also spent time in Falcon Brewery, Sweden, before joining Carlsberg as a brewmaster in 1972. From 1973 to 1976 he was an assistant brewmaster at Shamce Brewery in Iran, before joining Carlsberg Malawi Brewery as a technical manager. He joined Carlsberg Malaysia in 1981.

As Technical Director he will be responsible for supervising all breweries in the Carlsberg Breweries Group to ensure that the quality of Carlsberg and Tuborg products is in accordance with standards. He will also be manager of day-to-day operations of Carlsberg Corporate Operations Control (CCOC).

In connection with the appointment, it has been decided to move the Production Services department from Danbrew to CCOC. Production Services provides a consultancy service for production processes to breweries producing Carlsberg and Tuborg.

The position has been vacant since Svend Erik Albrethsen was appointed to the post of Technical Director in the newly-formed Carlsberg Asia.
