"The final night will be red and white," says Søren, Denmark.

As every football follower knows, the banners waved by the fans on the terraces are a vital ingredient in every match. That's why Carlsberg is giving football fans the world over a chance to write their own banners and put them on the Internet to cheer on their favourite teams in the final of the European Football Championships, EURO 2000.

Click in towww.carlsberg.comfind Fan-to-Fan under the sport/football section and write your own banner text. From the week before the tournament kicks-off until the final whistle is blown in Rotterdam on July 2, every fan can send in their own message, slogan or personal comment to their favourite - or perhaps least favourite - team.

If you don't have an idea for your own banner, then there is plenty of inspiration on the site.

Fans will be able to vote for other banners. The "Banner of the Day" will be used in the Carlsberg banner campaign in place at chosen European Internet portals during the EURO 2000 tournament.

The winner of "Banner of the Day" will be notified by e-mail, giving them the chance to tell family and friends of their success.

Besideswww.calsberg.com, banners can be seen onwww.eurosport.comand the national portals ofwww.sportal.comandwww.eurofootball.comand on portals in the Double Click network in Europe.

Media planning and the placing of the banners plays an important role in the concept. A banner such as "Italy, here's a bet - the ball will go into your net! Says Herman, Belgium" would be placed on Sportal's Italian site, where it has the most relevance for fans.

The concept has been developed by Internet and customer relationship management bureau e-scape/Generator from Copenhagen, Denmark. It is thought to be the first time such an activity has taken place on the net.
