Carlsberg's characteristic logo has been awarded a design prize by the Danish Design Centre.

It is the first time that a prize has been given for classic graphic designs.

The hand-drawn logo has been Carlsberg's distinctive mark for nearly a century. It was designed by Thorvald Bindesbøll in 1904 for the launch of Carlsberg pilsner.

Bindesbøll was Carlsberg's favoured graphic designer from the 1880s. He was also involved in the design of exhibition catalogues, anniversary books, a bottle tray and beer labels for Old and New Carlsberg.
