The long-awaited merger of Bulgaria's two breweries under the name of Carlsberg has been finalised. Shumensko Pivo has acquired Pirinsko Pivo and has been renamed Carlsberg Bulgaria. The integration of the two breweries under the newly acquired company name makes Carlsberg Bulgaria one of the leading beer producers in the country.
The 650 employees have celebrated the official union of their resources and activities to become a member of the big Carlsberg family.
"We are proud to be the fastest growing beer company in Bulgaria. In 2004 Carlsberg Bulgaria has increased its beer market share from 11% to 19%," said Alexander Grancharov, CEO Bulgaria.
There are now nine breweries in the Carlsberg Group using 'Carlsberg' in their names.
