On December 7, the city of Kerava in Finland awarded its Environmental Award for the year 2004 to Sinebrychoff, Carlsberg's Finnish subsidiary, located in Kerava. The award was given to Sinebrychoff in recognition of its professional and high-quality management of environmental matters throughout its entire organisation and in the development of its industrial operations.

"Sinebrychoff has a particularly professional grip on its management of environmental issues. Despite the growth in the company's production volumes, emissions have decreased. The company is also committed to continuous improvements in environmental matters," says Tapani Ranki, Chairman of the Kerava City Board.

"The company's plant area is well cared for and the surroundings are kept tidy. Despite its large size, the brewery is well suited to the surrounding area," emphasises Petri Härkönen, the City of Kerava's Development Director who served as the Chairman of the award jury.

"We are delighted to be honoured by the city in this way. We want to carry our share of responsibility as a good corporate citizen with respect to our staff, the operational environment and the local community," Oy Sinebrychoff Ab's Managing Director Johan Furuhjelm states.
