Greece midfield player Theodoros Zagorakis has been honoured as the first Carlsberg Man of the Match of UEFA EURO 2004 for his vital role in their opening 2-1 win against hosts Portugal.
Clean sheet
Zagorakis stifled Luís Figo, Rui Costa and Simão Sabrosa, helping Greece secure their first ever victory in any finals tournament, and come within seconds of seventh consecutive clean sheet in the tournament going back to early in their qualifying campaign.
Daunting prospect
It is clear from this opening game that Greece will be a daunting team to open up, no surprise with Zagorakis holding the midfield.
