Today, the EU Commission has approved Carlsberg's proposed takeover of Holsten-Brauerei.
On 24 February 2004, the German Federal Cartel Office approved the Bitburger Group's proposed acquisition of the breweries König-Brauerei and Licher Privatbrauerei. This approval and that of the EU Commission mean that two of the conditions precedent of the takeover offer by Carlsberg to the shareholders of Holsten-Brauerei have been fulfilled.
The acceptance period for the voluntary public offer to the shareholders of Holsten expires on 18 March 2004 at 12:00 noon (CET).
