Carlsberg A/S has appointed Alex Myers (41) to the position of Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, with responsibility for the Carlsberg Group’s international marketing and sales activities from January 1, 2005. He will lead Carlsberg’s build-up of expertise in sales and marketing to secure the company’s continued organic growth.
For the last four years Alex Myers has had overall responsibility for the Carlsberg Group’s International marketing activities and sponsorships, focused on the growth of the Carlsberg brand globally. From January 1, he also assumes responsibility for the Carlsberg Group’s international sales and commercial excellence projects from Jørn Tolstrup Rohde, who took over the position as CEO for Carlsberg Danmark in August 2004.
Additionally, Kasper Madsen (42) will from January 1, 2005 become Senior Vice President Group Supply Chain with direct responsibility for production in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Poland, together with co-ordination of the Carlsberg Group’s other production. He will also assume responsibility for the group’s joint procurement function and quality control among the Group’s partners.
For the past two years Kasper Madsen has been responsible for improving efficiency at Carlsberg’s production plants. He was previously Production Director in the UK, Malaysia and Thailand.
Bjørn Wiggen, currently Senior Vice President with responsibility for Germany, and Central and Eastern Europe will resign his position in Carlsberg with effect from December 15, 2004. After three years with Carlsberg he has decided to return to Norway to take up a position in the Orkla Group.
Bjørn Wiggen was the CEO of Carlsberg’s Norwegian brewery, Ringnes, before he became Senior Vice President. During his time in Carlsberg he has been responsible for completing the turnaround of Carlsberg’s Turkish subsidiary and led the building-up of the subsidiaries in Poland and the Balkans. Bjørn Wiggen has made a significant contribution to Carlsberg’s development during his time with the group.
Executive Vice President Paul Bergqvist will take over Bjørn Wiggen’s tasks in addition to his other responsibilities, which cover primarily M&A, business development and BBH.
