A spicy Christmas Ale is the latest in the growing number of Semper Ardens beers from Carlsberg.

Star anise and coriander, combined with a Danish ale yeast give the beer a distinct Christmas flavour of ripe fruit, liquorice and spices.

The 8.3%abv beer has a warm red-gold colour and a creamy head. The colour comes from Maris Otter ale malt and a hard roasted caramel malt. Tettnang Hallertau hops add a light floral touch. Carlsberg aroma hops are also used.


The beer is given a secondary fermentation with muscavado sugar to create a more complex taste structure. Christmas beer is soft in the mouth with a dry and slightly acidic structure that blends perfectly with Christmas food.
