The biotechnology company Combio A/S merges with the Swiss biopharmaceutical company Arpida. Combio, which is owned by a circle of Danish investors with Carlsberg as one of the founding shareholders, has collaborated with Arpida on research within the development of new antibiotics.
It is a success for Danish biotech that Combios work has proven to be so interesting that it has led to a merger with one of Europes leading biopharmaceutical companies. The merger with Arpida is the best way to secure Combios assets in the future. The employees interests have been secured, and the owners have achieved a possibility for a relatively fast exit, says Klaus Bock, Research Director of Carlsberg A/S and chairman of the board for Combio until the merger with Arpida.
In the new company structure, Combio will be a 100% owned subsidiary of Arpida, and the companys activities in Copenhagen will continue under its present management.
Combios investors will receive stock in Arpida in exchange for Combio stock. Arpida has declared a long term goal to become a publicly listed company.
