Carlsberg Pilsner celebrates its 100th birthday today

The beer as we know it today – with the characteristic logo on the green oval label – was delivered to the first customers in 1904, but despite celebrating its centenary it has lost nothing of its dynamism and is the fastest growing international beer brand in the world.

Known internationally as just 'Carlsberg', it has throughout its lifetime enthused both passionate beer drinkers and the general public.

The taste and the special Carlsberg quality that is the hallmark of every bottle has contributed to making it into a classic brand.
Not many beers are brewed under such controlled conditions to be perfect down to the smallest detail as a Carlsberg.

It was – and still is – the beer that forms the basis of the Carlsberg company's expansion, quickly establishing a reputation for quality that is hard to beat.

That reputation is still pushing the brand onwards. In 2004, Carlsberg is expected to maintain its position as the fastest-growing international brand in the world*.

The label on the front of a bottle of Carlsberg is still largely the same as the one from 1904. Founder JC Jacobsen paid 500 kroner for the design of a label for Carlsberg. It was expensive at the time, but it turned out to be money well spent.
