Schweppes International Limited and Carlsberg have entered into a multi-country licence agreement that strengthens their commercial relationship in five countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Denmark. The new agreement replaces Carlsberg's existing local agreements with Schweppes.

The agreement secures Carlsberg certain exclusive rights to a series of Schweppes' bitter, mixer and fruit flavour products in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Denmark. At the same time, Schweppes International is designated by Carlsberg as a preferred supplier for a variety of mixers and soft drinks.

According to Kevin Pratt, Managing Director for Schweppes International Limited: “This agreement will strengthen Carlsberg Breweries and Schweppes International Limited’s commercial partnership. It creates a common platform for Pan-European marketing and sales activities”.

"This agreement also provides opportunities for finding and implementing efficiencies in supply chain and production", adds Werner Budek from Group Procurement in Carlsberg Breweries.

All countries will work under a common standard licence agreement, which defines obligations and rights at local level.

The agreement is based on Carlsberg's present portfolio in the five countries and provides opportunities of launching new products.
