BREWER J.C. JACOBSEN 200 YEARS
The Danish artist Jesper Christiansen (born 1955) has completed three large paintings for a room on the theme ‘Souvenirs of travel’ in the Glyptotek’s collection of early 19th century Danish art. The pictures concentrate on three locations ‒ Italy, France and Denmark – and provide a commentary on the times of J.C. Jacobsen, extending from small city of Copenhagen during the ‘Golden Age’ to the enterprising modernism of industrialism. It’s about where you are, and the lines that radiate out into the world from there – on journeys, in dreams or in memory.
