UEFA EURO 2008™ will be the largest festival in Europe in 2008 with millions of participants joining each other on site.
The main events during UEFA EURO 2008™ from 7 June – to 29 June, obviously, are the 31 football games on the pitch. With millions of football lovers all over the world, the number of fans who would like to see the games live exceeds the number of seats available in the 8 stadiums in Austria and Switzerland.
However, millions of fans will be offered an additional chance to join the party. They can share the same emotions and enjoy the same excitement of world-class football as inside the 8 stadiums. This will happen in a number of Fan Parks, where fans gather to watch the games live on giant outdoor TV-screens.
Free entry and lots of fun
The great thing about Fan Parks is that you – just like in the stadiums – get plenty of excitement over the event on the pitch. And in addition to this the entrance is free and for many hours there will be additional entertainment and fun.
“Also, in the Fan Parks there will be easy access to a glass of cold Carlsberg”, says senior project manager Carsten Buhl, Carlsberg,
Fan Parks were set up for the first time during UEFA EURO 2004 in Portugal followed by Fan Parks during the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany.
It became a huge success among fans and therefore Fan Parks are developed further for the UEFA EURO 2008. There will be established Fan Parks in all 8 host cities in Austria and Switzerland. In each Fan Park there will be room for at least 20.000 fans during each opening day. Some Fan Parks will even have a capacity of more than 100.000 fans.
In total it is expected that more than 5 million fans during the football festival will join the party in the Fan Parks. That exceeds the numbers of fans at the stadiums many times.
Carlsberg is Part of the Game
Carlsberg will also be present in the Fan Parks. “We take part in the fan party by providing cold beer, good service and focusing on creating a nice and friendly atmosphere together with many others”, says Carsten Buhl, Carlsberg.
Being in the Fan Park has a huge advantage for the fan: Just like in front of the TV at home, the dramatic situations and crucial moments of the matches will be shown again and again on the large screen, often in slow motion and from different angles.
One more advantage: A lot of activities and shows will be arranged in the Fan Parks before and after the actual football match. The Fan Parks will typically be open for many hours, some of them from noon till midnight.
One additional advantage: It is a fact that the official tickets to most matches will be sold out very quickly. Entrance to the Fan Parks is not depending on tickets bought in advance and entrance will be free. You could say: on a first come, first served a crisp Carlsberg basis. During all of UEFA EURO 2008 Carlsberg expects to deliver more than 7 million glasses of beer, so there should be enough to go around.
