Carlsberg joins forces with Twitter to launch second screen football app

Carlsberg has joined forces with Twitter to launch a second screen football app aimed at fans of the Barclays Premier League. The free app, calledStrikr, available onApple andAndroid devices, is the first app of its kind which collates and filters Premier League news, uniquely for every user. Strikr also encourages fans to celebrate and share their emotional ups and downs as they follow their team’s performance. Users of the app, which will be available from Apple and Google’s app store, will be able to connect via Twitter, select the teams and players they want to follow, be part of the conversation in real-time, follow the live scores, get real time alerts on match events and show their support to players and teams. Trophy Tweets One feature of the app, called Trophy Tweets, gives fans the chance to get their tweet featured on perimeter board advertising at selected Premier League clubs during fixtures. Daria Rasmussen, senior digital manager at Carlsberg Group says: “Strikr was developed to support Carlsberg’s partnership with the Premier League as official beer. The Premier League would be nothing without its fans, all 4.7 billion of them (a cumulative audience of 4.7 billion watch the Premier League across the world) - and this app allows fans to easily get involved with the banter before, during and after the match. “A staggering 60 million tweets are sent during every season and during major sporting events, 50 per cent of all Twitter activity is related, so there is huge scope for Strikr to make it easier for football fans to get right to the heart of what they need to know. 77 pct are second screening “TV viewing has changed significantly with 77 per cent of people now using a second device during programmes and Strikr is the only app that has the ability to aggregate the information in an easy to use manner.” Using an advanced algorithm, Strikr is also able to measure the mood and engagement of clubs’ fans. From the ecstatic highs, to jaw-dropping disbelief and epic heartbreak – Strikr will be able to provide a snapshot of fans’ emotions and engagement throughout every game. Developed in collaboration with Twitter The app, was developed in collaboration with Twitter, as it uses real time Twitter hashtags and conversations in real-time to generate a highly relevant and unique feed for each user. Rasmussen adds: “Unlike similar apps which have their own community, Strikr goes above expectations as it has no barriers. And as the Premier League has such a huge international following, fans will be able to engage, in real time, with fellow fans from all over the world, and That Calls for a Carlsberg.”  The emotional rollercoaster ride The launch of the app builds on the emotions theme of Carlsberg’s release of thefirst TVC which depicts the emotional rollercoaster that everyone involved with the Premier League goes through every match and every season. Featuring footballing legends including Robbie Fowler and Gareth Southgate, the TVC positions Carlsberg at the heart of exceptional football moments.   Keep up to date with Carlsberg onTwitter,Facebook andYouTube and theStrikr blog.
