Carlsberg UK to concentrate production in Northampton

To make Carlsberg’s production in the UK further efficient, Carlsberg UK’s future production will be concentrated in Northampton. Consequently, the Northampton Brewery will be expanded. The investment will increase capacity from 4.5 to 6 m hl per year and supports the transfer of lager production from its Leeds Brewery, which it announced last November that it would close in 2011. Head of Group Supply Chain, Senior Vice President Kasper Madsen, commented: “The move forms part of the Carlsberg Group supply chain strategy for Northern & Western Europe built around concentrating production at fewer sites to optimize our supply chain structure. Once the development has been completed we are confident that the Northampton Brewery will be one of the most efficient breweries in the world.” The development at Northampton will commence in mid 2010 and will be completed by mid 2011. Dr Isaac Sheps, CEO Carlsberg UK commented: “The investment shows a significant commitment from the Carlsberg Group to Carlsberg UK, and will play a key role in ensuring we remain a strong and sustainable player in a challenging UK market.” Also after closure of the Leeds Brewery Carlsberg UK remains committed to brewing Tetley's in the UK and if a suitable partner can be found in Yorkshire, then this remains the clear preference.    Contacts: Investor Relations:    Peter Kondrup                    +45 3327 1221 Media Relations:        Jens Peter Skaarup             +45 3327 1417
