Under the headline "Cheers to Green Ideas", we asked consumers, entrepreneurs, students and anyone else with a bright mind to share with us, their green ideas for making our beer more sustainable. The window for submitting ideas was open from 28 September to 16 October 2015.
The ideas provided should help Carlsberg improve the environmental impact of beer, from production of raw materials, to brewing and transportation, all the way through to recycling of packaging. They should also inspire positive change in consumer behaviour to help drive a more sustainable future.
Examples could include, but are not limited to: innovative packaging ideas, ways of incentivising recycling, and technologies to increase energy/water efficiency.
More than 160 #GreenIdeas submitted
In total 162 green ideas were submitted from 33 countries.
Through a rigorous process, in which a Carlsberg jury consisting of representatives from research & development, marketing, sustainability, innovation and supply chain discussed and evaluated all submitted ideas extensively, six finalists were found. They are now up for winning one of two awards:
- The Cheers to Green Ideas Award
- The J.C. Jacobsen Special Award
The winners were announced on 6 December at the Sustainia Awards at COP21 in Paris.
The Cheers to Green Ideas competition is a collaboration between Carlsberg and Copenhagen-based think tank Sustainia. Read more about it here se more about the finalists above.
