American super producer and DJ Diplo is joined by Nepali artists Bipul Chettri & Laure at second annual Tuborg OPEN Fest in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Now in its second year, Tuborg OPEN Fest marked the culmination of the brand’s Tuborg OPEN campaign, which once again brought together a group of incredible musicians to create something truly special; a song with one message but the story told in many different ways, reflecting the experiences of each collaborating artist from around the world.
The campaign saw local artists from ten Tuborg markets across Asia and Europe put their own spin on long term collaborators Diplo and MØ’s exclusive track, ‘Stay Open’, by rewriting the lyrics to reflect the diversity and unique local culture of their home country. Originally released in May, the global version of the track has accumulated over 12 million views on YouTube alone, with local versions attracting a further 40 million.
Nepal teamed up with famed Nepali rapper Laure and Himalayan folk singer-songwriter Bipul Chettri, who performed their version of ‘Stay Open’ at Tuborg OPEN Fest. Elsewhere, Russia worked with DJ and singer Ivan Dorn, whilst India engaged Vishal Dadlani whose musical influences ranges from Bollywood to indie rock. Singer-songwriter Levante led the campaign in Italy, whilst a host of other markets including China, Bulgaria, Vietnam and Myanmar each teamed up with a local artist.
Speaking about this year’s campaign, Diplo said: “This year with Tuborg OPEN we’ve been working with some really cool artists. It’s been great to see what open means to them through how they’ve reworked the track and to be celebrating all that with Tuborg OPEN Fest. The guys from Nepal brought a really exciting rap / folk collab to the track so it was a great place to end the campaign.”
Danish vocalist and songwriter MØ said: “For me, the journey you go on to get to the finished product is often the best bit. By being open to new influences, you mix together things that you think will never fit but sometimes, it really works well. I love what you learn and experience from doing that and watching the track you had at the start become something totally different.”
