In line with Carlsberg Group's ambition of disposing non-core assets, improving return on invested capital and reducing financial leverage Carlsberg Group has signed an agreement to sell Danish Malting Group A/S.
The Carlsberg Group has signed an agreement regarding the sale of Danish Malting Group A/S (“DMG”) to Viking Malt Oy. The transaction is expected to be finalised within few months, subject to approvals by relevant anti-trust authorities. The sales price is not disclosed.
DMG is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group. The company has 88 employees and operates three malting plants (one in Denmark and two in Poland) with a combined annual capacity of 220,000 tonnes and an annual turnover of approximately DKK 700m.
Malt is one of the four ingredients of beer alongside water, yeast and hops. Malt has a great impact on the taste of beer and comes in a great number of variants. Carlsberg, Tuborg and other pilsner type beers are brewed with malt made from barley. Danish barley malt is a favourite choice for breweries in the whole world.
