ACCIDENTS CULTURE

The health and safety of our people always comes first. We want everyone to go home safe every day.

By 2030, we aim to make accidents a thing of the past for Carlsberg Group by instilling a ZERO accidents culture.

Everyone at Carlsberg is responsible for their own safety and the safety of those around them. We aim to empower our people to identify unsafe behaviours and take action to help their colleagues adopt safe ways of working.

Managers at all levels of the business lead by example, making safety a personal priority to help them demonstrate strong and credible leadership. Part of their role is to make sure that every individual in their team complies with safety rules and keeps safety top of mind. We manage key risks through our health and safety management systems, training and compliance with our stringent standards, including our Life Saving Rules that everyone must follow at all times.

Our approach towards ZERO

Health and safety is everyone’s responsibility. Keeping it top of mind takes committed leadership, personal engagement and strict adherence to safety routines.

In 2021, 32 of our breweries achieved the safety milestone of 1,000 days without a lost-time accident.

However, our overall accident rate among employees rose by 44% to 4.3, and the total lost-time accidents among both employees and contractors increased by 34% to 208. This setback followed half a decade of progress that saw a 55% drop in our accident rate between 2015 and 2020.
