Ever since the Viking era, the Christmas beer tradition has been strong in Norway. As stated in the 'Gulatingsloven' (a regional law text valid until 1274), every farmer was bound by the law to brew beer for Christmas and christen it according to the new faith, otherwise running the risk of losing his assets to the king and bishop. The Christmas beer was normally brewed from the best grain of the season and would be strong with a rich malt flavour. Dahls Christmas Beer is a modern version of the traditional Norwegian Christmas beer.
Dahls Christmas Beer is a nordic Christmas beer with a deep maroon colour. The aroma is marked by yeast fruitiness and malt aromas reminiscent to banana, sweet whole wheat bread, brown sugar and raisins. You will also notice the unique and fruity Dahls yeast. This beer has nice malt sweetness with notes of caramel, toasted malt, bread and fruit. The malty sweetness is nicely balanced against the beer's hoppy bitterness.
We recommend this beer for, especially, Christmas cod. Dahls Christmas Beer is also suitable for other Norwegian Christmas food, such as roast ribs, lamb or Christmas cookies, raisins and nuts.
