Cooling, the natural way

During the winter months, our Baltika breweries in Samara, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, and Yaroslavl in Russia are using dry and free cooling refrigeration systems to reduce their energy consumption.

Both systems take advantage of the cold outdoor temperatures to minimise the need for cooling compressor units. The amount of energy saved depends on the outside temperature. As an example, when the outside air is – 6°C, dry cooling reduces energy use by 30%. This means that in Novosibirsk, which experiences and average of -17°C from November to February, the refrigeration equipment need barely used at all. By 2022, we aim to have 100% low-impact cooling at our breweries. Baltika’s smart electricity-saving solutions and other initiatives like it, will make an important contribution to this target.
