Global Beer Responsible Day 2019

Global Beer Responsibility Day is part of our year-round activity to combat drink driving, tackle underage drinking and encourage a healthier consumption culture. In 2019, our worldwide campaigns reached 57 million people.

In Serbia, a campaign entitled “I know what I did last night” prompted dialogue with 6,000 young adults on a night out about the dangers of binge drinking and the value of good memories.

In Russia, our people visited 100,000 customers together with the Russian Brewers Union to help prevent underage sales. A similar initiative in Ukraine engaged 20,000 customers with a corresponding media campaign targeting parents with advice from a leading psychologist on ‘how to speak with your children about alcohol and protect them.’

As part of our sustainability programme, Together Towards ZERO, we’re aiming for ZERO irresponsible drinking by 2030, and 100% distribution of alcohol-free brews by 2022. Initiatives such as Global Beer Responsibility Day underpin our work with partners in this area.

When people go out, they want to enjoy a great beer with friends but sometimes they don’t want to feel the effect of alcohol, especially when they’re driving. At Carlsberg we’re working with partners to ensure that wherever consumers find our beers they can choose alcohol-free brews – even on tap.

Our beers are made for consumption above the legal drinking age, so we're working hard to prevent sales to younger people.

Research shows that one in four Danish cycling accidents involves alcohol. That’s why we partnered with the Danish road safety council and a Copenhagen-based taxi company, to raise awareness about the problem.
